The Brooklyn Street house was built in 1909 and is a two bedroom, one bath, 820 square foot house in downtown Raleigh, NC. We purchased this home (our first!) right after we got married in 2011. While it needed a bit of work, we fell in love with the neighborhood and spacious backyard with tall pecan trees. We tackled the inside first with a laundry list of cosmetic fixes: painted every room, replaced light fixtures, refinished the kitchen cabinet doors, added French doors, installed a wine fridge, created a microwave cabinet, and added a washer and dryer hookup inside a newly built closet. Outside is where most of the work took place as the house was empty for over two years. These changes included: painting the foundation and front porch, replacing the front door, adding shutters and window boxes, building a picket fence, building a privacy fence, building a stone patio, removing trees and over-grown shrubs, and adding new landscaping. In 2013 the renovations were complete and it was a rental property for 2.5 years. We sold it in the summer of 2016 after being on the market for five days and receiving multiple offers.
