I come across so many good deals that I want to share with you guys, I thought I would start including mini designer looks for less of one item - a high end version and it's more affordable dupe. This is especially true for the above bronze hammered cocktail table. The higher end is stunning, but the lower end version is only 1/10 of the cost!! The Zinc Door version has a deeper, richer brass finish, but for the price of the World Market coffee table, it's really hard to complain. What do you think?
How to Easily Organize Paint Chips
It never fails - you're out shopping for home decor or furniture, and you find what you think is the PERFECT upholstered chair. The only question is - will it go with your paint colors? But alas, you don't know because you don't have your paint colors with you. Whomp, whomp. It doesn't have to end this way, friends. Don't let that perfect chair pass you by again! Here are a few ways to organize your home's paint color samples so that you will always be equipped for any shopping adventure.
House Flipping: The Dalton House - Week 2
The boys have been busy at the Dalton house mudding and taping the drywall in preparation for paint. They are wrapping up the sanding tonight and tomorrow, so we should be ready to prime and paint the walls in the next few days!
Much to their chagrin, I pleaded with my husband and friends to save this little built-in (the guys were ready to take the sledge hammer to it). It is literally falling apart, but it is the only hint of character in this little manufactured home. We couldn't save the wood veneer on it, but I plan on painting the whole thing white (keeping the beadboard black and counters as is) and tying it into a fun board-and-batten accent wall I plan on making in the kitchen - stay tuned.
Designer Look for Less: Aqua + Navy Dining Room
I have this affinity for bistro chairs. Maybe it is due to my love affair with all things French or just because they are so darn pretty. Every time I sit in one at a coffee shop or bakery, I feel so fancy. Who wouldn't want to feel that fancy every time they eat a meal at home? (This girl would!) I stumbled upon this gorgeous breakfast nook design by Amie Corley. It could also pull double duty as a dining room if you have a small space. The soft white walls, pops of Caribbean aqua in the plush throw pillows, and punches of bright blue in the upholstery and Parisian chairs look cheery while still being sophisticated.
DIY Affordable Window Treatments for Large Windows
One of the my favorite things about the Myrtle House were the beautiful, gigantic old wooden windows. They let in so much natural light and were one of the few original details of the home left in tact. When it came time to finding window treatments, however, I may have cursed those over-sized windows since it proved impossible to find standard drapes or curtains.
Trending: Light Blue Vanities
Want a little color in your bathroom without going overboard? Well, friend, this trend might just be for you! A light blue bathroom vanity is visually interesting without being overbearing. Soothing, tranquil, and sophisticated, these baby blue cabinets will make your bathroom feel like a spa. These aqua colored vanities look best when paired with neutral coordinating colors and fixtures like greige wall paint, marble counters, white accents, and shiny chrome faucets and hardware.
