Flip Hunting: The Smith House

I am really excited that we are finally able to pursue a big dream Brian and I have had on the back burner for the past five years: flip a house. Not live in it and fix it, then sell it a few years down the road. I'm talking a bonafide real estate investment, friends. I know I had millions of questions about house flipping when we first broached the subject all of those years ago so I thought it would be fun to take you guys along with us on the journey! I want to share our thought process, property tours, renovation estimates, and design ideas along the way.

Why We Chose (& Love) Our Formica Countertops

Do you ever find a product that you love so much, you want to tell everyone about it? Like almost in an annoying, yes-you've-told-us-1000-times way? That is how I feel about our new laminate countertops. We chose the Formica 180fx Calacatta Marble style and it is for sure one of the best selections we made during the renovation of the Myrtle House

Myrtle House Before & After: Master Bathroom

We eeked three full bathrooms into the Myrtle House which meant that if we were going to have a master bath (uh, duh) then it was going to have to be a small one. I have always loved small spaces - we did buy the Brooklyn Street House after-all - but figuring out how to fit two sinks, a shower/tub combo, and a closet entrance was a little tricky. In the end, this once pantry is now a cute little master bathroom.

Myrtle House Before & After: Master Bedroom

I think the new master bedroom is one of the most dramatic transformations of the entire project. This was one room I didn't like to spend too much time in at the beginning of the renovation of the Myrtle House (which I am sure you can see why from these before photos). ;) I will spare you the details, but the kitchen was just abandoned as is - so all of the food in the cabinets and refrigerator were left. And then the power was turned off. You can see where I am going with this.

Myrtle House Before & After: Office

Since I am fortunate enough to be able to work from home and we run our small side business, a dedicated office space in the Myrtle House was pretty important. We decided the best location for an office was the old dining room. Since we wanted to add an extra bath and some closet space, the original dining room had shrunk down and was now a great size for a home office.
