We got rid of cable in 2013 and haven't looked back since! For a while, we used Netflix only, but as time went on, I reeeaallllyyy missed my HGTV. Brian and I started the hunt for an affordable alternative to cable and stumbled upon Sling TV. Starting at only $20 a month, Sling is way more budget-friendly than any cable package I have found and includes most of the channels I wanted. The difference with Sling is that it is ran through the internet, so if you don't have a decent internet package, there may be some buffering that could be annoying. There is a 7-day free trial so you can see for yourself without any commitment.

Sling usually has a promotion going for a free Roku when you sign up for three months which is a nice option if you do not have a smart TV or Amazon Fire. You can also link Netflix to the Roku as well as fun apps like Pandora.

Another feature of Sling that I really like is the ability to watch shows that have already aired within a few days. If you missed yesterday's marathon of Fixer Upper, you can go back and watch them one by one! If you are looking for an alternate to cable, I can't recommend Sling enough.
